Meet our Staff
Diana Elligott- Tree House Manager, ECE Teacher
Out of School Care, Preschool
Started at Tree House in 1999-2004, Returning in 2014
I graduated from Capilano College in 1999 with my ECE Certification and started to work at the Treehouse in all our different programs for over five years. I then ventured into a new career working with Coast Mental Health, managing a group home & working with individuals affected by mental health challenges. During this time, I was raising a young son and a daughter. My passion has always been to work with people of all ages to help guide them to reach their full potential. Throughout the years I have always remained deeply connected to the Tree House and its staff. I returned to Treehouse on a part-time basis with my preschool aged children where I once again became part of the family. As my children have grown, I continued full-time as an ECE educator before stepping into the Management Position. Treehouse is a special place for children and families to learn and grow and feel part of a truly loving family.

Mary Johnson - ECE Teacher
Out of School, Preschool
Started at Tree House in 2001
After graduating with my ECCE in 2000, I began teaching at Tree House in 2001. I have worked in all the programs here and also with children with Special Needs. I have taken specific courses on Autism, Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), along with many workshops. I believe that play is the most important“work” a child can do. They learn so much and it comes so naturally to them. It’s amazing to observe children at play! Personally, I have lived on the North Shore for a number of years, returning after living in my other homeland of Barbados. I have a son, Shyloh, who is recently recently Graduated from the University of Victoria.

Jennifer Townsend – Office Administrator
Administration, invoicing and payments
Started at Tree House in 2025
With 30 years in the field of early childhood education, I’ve had the privilege of working in a variety of settings, including daycare centers, preschools, and early learning environments, which has given me a deep understanding of the developmental needs of young children and the best practices to support their growth. I earned my ECE Diploma from Capilano University, a foundation that has shaped my approach to early learning. For the past 7 years, I have served as an ECE Instructor at a private college, combining hands-on experience with academic instruction while mentoring future educators. With this extensive background, I am excited to step into an administrative role within the childcare sector, specifically to support and contribute to a non-profit organization such as Irwin Park Treehouse.
In my spare time, I love spending time outdoors with my twin daughters and husband, embracing new adventures. I also cherish quality moments with my parents over tea, sharing laughs and taking short trips with my best friends, and golfing with my husband. Additionally, I find long walks on my own to be a perfect way to provide balance and keep me grounded
